Born in Cornwall and raised on the South Cornish Coast. I have a passion for taking pictures of Cornwall, I also like taking pictures of anything that pleases me and would make a good image. I first took an interest in photography as a young lad to record my family holidays using slide film as my medium.
I decided to take my photography more seriously in 1993 and joined a local camera club. I felt the way forward was to build my own darkroom and progress from there: primarily going into Black and White developing and printing. I am a member of the St Austell Camera Club in Cornwall, the Royal Photographic Society, and the Disabled Photographic Society. I have had work published in magazines, and also had work exhibited in Cornwall.
In 1999 I decided to apply for a Distinction, and after a lot of encouragement from my wife and others, I put in for my Licentiateship with the Royal Photographic Society. To my delight I was awarded the Distinction. In 2000 I applied for an Associateship Distinction with the Disabled Photographic Society and was awarded that also. Nine years later I gained a Credit Distinction with the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain
With the advent of digital; in 2003 I decided to try out this new medium. Being able to save work and go back to it at any time was a bonus, with the ease of being able to work in a well lit room rather than working in a Dark Room is a real plus. I now work solely in digital, having left the darkroom behind
